Sir,
I have the honour to acknowledge the receipt of
your letter No. 20156/98 of the 10th September last
requesting us to obtain a candidate for the post of Hospital
Warder for the Victoria Gaol at Hong Kong.

I now beg to submit the name of Charles Crabb
of the Banstead Asylum, Sutton.
3. Mr Crabb is unmarried and 27 years of age, has
been employed in the Banstead Asylum during the past four
years and Dr Shaw, the Superintendent of the Institution
informs us that he is well trained in the management of
patients and that he can give him an excellent character.
4. Mr Crabb has enquired whether he will if appointed
receive his board, also what are the conditions of leave
attached to the appointment, but as we are not in a position
to answer these questions we presume the Secretary of State
will furnish him with full information on the subject
should it be decided to appoint him.
5. Mr Crabb has passed a satisfactory medical
